On the 4th of June, a new baby was welcomed into the world by members of the royal family. Weighing 7 pounds, 11 ounces and suffering from no health problems, it seems like everything went well, but with Harry and Meghan officially acting outside the rest of the firm, are there more problems lurking in the horizon?

The royal couple was ecstatic to have a daughter

With the birth of Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, the Sussex royals are 2-for-2 for beautiful babies, and they couldn’t be happier with this new addition to the family. The child will have the opportunity to grow in Harry and Meghan’s wonderful mansion in Montecito, California. The incredible abode cost the couple upwards of 10+ million dollars, with some reports claiming all the way to $14 million as its price. It’s absolutely certain that little Lilibet is going to have the time of her life growing up there with older brother Archie who is 2 years old.

In an official statement that was issued by them, the parents say, “On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we’ve felt from across the globe… Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family.”

Then there was trouble

However, despite the overwhelming happiness that everybody feels about the birth of a child, it’s worth noting that the joyful news has sparked a certain controversy that sullied the moment, just a bit.

How does a royal couple get into a fight with a news station? Well, if you answered with false reporting and defamatory statements, then you are 100% correct! To better understand, we must first explain the origins of the name the couple has decided to go with.

You may already know that a lot of royals go by Moundbatten-Windsor when they need to provide a surname, hence why she has inherited it. Most definitely, you are familiar with Princess Diana, the mother of Princes William and Harry, who tragically died in 1997 due to a car crash in France. Lilibet’s middle name of Diana serves as a tribute to the beloved Princess of Wales and shows the love her son had for her. Lastly, the controversial one is Lilibet who happens to be the Queen’s nickname, given to her by her grandfather, King George V.

When BBC’s Jonny Dymond decided to report that the happy couple had gone ahead with the naming of the baby without asking the Queen about whether she would like for her nickname to be used or not, the two of them were furious and decided that a lawsuit may be in order.

The BBC has confirmed that they have received a legal notice that disputes any claims they have made in their reporting, and they may or may not be proceeding with a legal battle. Harry and Meghan say that the Queen was informed beforehand of their idea to name their daughter in honor of the eternal ruler, and that she was more than happy to allow it.

Their relationship with the palace is still strained

With the relationship between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and the royal family being in an extremely volatile state, as a result of the now famous Oprah interview, where the couple made some pretty serious accusations over what happens behind closed doors at the palace, something like a lie about the nickname of the Queen could enhance tensions and create larger problems for everybody involved. You can imagine why the parents of 2 would want their relationship with their extended family not to be further strained due to outsiders.

Other than that, reports say that when Lilibet Diana was born, Prince Harry felt the need to text Kate Middleton and notify her instead of his brother about their daughter’s birth. Maybe a new niece is all it takes for Prince William to have another serious talk with his brother and make amends for all that has happened in the past. Hopefully, the two can bury the hatchet soon and end the drama that has been going on for a while.
