It quickly became headlines when the most eligible bachelor George Clooney announced his engagement and then marriage to the celebrated humanitarian Amal Alamuddin in 2014. They had a perfect wedding in the romantic city of Venice. The fans and most people from the film fraternity would have thought it to be the pinnacle of the solemnization of their dreamy union. But Hollywood’s most stylish actor’s choice of honeymoon destination in Seychelles became another talk of the town. The couple jetted off after spending four days in Venice to the same resort where Prince William and his wife Kate honeymooned.

What was supposed to be a top-secret soon grabbed the media’s attention and led to a sort of frenzy among his admirers when the details of their post-nuptial luxury vacation started making rounds on the internet. The paparazzi revealed it was an insanely expensive honeymoon for newlyweds at the North Island resort. But what is so remarkable about this Seychelles resort?

Well, for the uninitiated, North Island hotel with sea view has earned a name for being one of the most expensive hotels across the globe. On the 462 acres of land, the private resort offers a choicest range of 11 private villas, each dotting 5,000 square feet of area with separate plunge pools. You would need a helicopter to reach them. It seems to be the favorite hideaway of A-listers like Brad and Angie, actress Salma Hayek and her billionaire husband, François-Henri Pinault, who also chose it as their after-wedding getaway. Celebs seem to enjoy this hotel for its home-away-from-home ambiance, privacy, services, facilities, rooms and location. 

Do you need more reasons why the Hollywood star selected the North Island resort for their honeymoon? If news reports are anything to go by, it was on BFF Brad Pitt’s recommendation that Clooney made this decision. He wanted to take his wife Amal to the most beautiful corner of the planet, something that surpassed the charm of Venice too, and thus, they landed there. According to sources, the luxury villa the dashing actor had rented cost more than $5,000 per person per night. Now, that’s truly something to swoon over!
