In 2020, worldwide superstar Adele shocked the world with her incredible body transformation that had left people with their jaws on the floor.

She is famous for being one of the most talented and popular singers of the 21st century. Hit singles like “Someone Like You”, “Skyfall”, “Rolling in the Deep”, and “Set Fire to the Rain” are all considered musical masterpieces that have earned many millions in revenues. Naturally, Adele is widely regarded as one of the best artists on the scene, and this fact can be seen when taking a look at the artist’s portfolio of multiple Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Grammys, etc. – the list goes on and on and on…

She impressed everyone with her weight loss

However, Adele is also widely known for another impressive feat, which is her amazing body transformation. The star had always been slightly on the heavier side of things, until she decided to change that.

In October of 2020, Adele hosted the popular comedy show Saturday Night Live, where she made one of her first appearances post-transformation. She knew that fans of her and the show would be confused as to who that person acting as the host was, since the Adele they were familiar with was drastically different, so she poked fun at that in her opening monologue, a traditional act of the show.

“I know I look really, really different since you last saw me, but actually because of all the COVID restrictions and the travel bans, I had to travel light and only bring half of me, and this is the half of me that I chose” she said while making light of the situation.  This was the first time she had explicitly addressed her crazy transformation.

It was a secret for a while

In the past, she had given the world slight hints about it, like when she posted a picture of herself on Instagram, seemingly thinner than last time, saying, “I used to cry but now I sweat.”, but she never outright admitted it.

Obviously, with many others struggling with their own weight problems, the internet demanded answers as to how and why the Grammy winner managed to turn her life around like this. Her personal trainer, Pete Geracimo, talked to the media and revealed that Adele wanted to improve her health and quality of life with her change, not acquire a new look or anything else vanity-related. With health on her mind, she increased the intensity of her training and improved her dietary habits; here are the details.

One of the worst habits the worldwide star had was the abuse of sugar in her tea drinks, which contributed to unhealthy amounts of intake over the day. With a minimum of 2 sugar cubes per drink and a maximum of 10 cups in a single day, it was clear as day that she had to tone it down to see the results that she wanted to see, or else it would sabotage the rest of her journey. In addition to the limiting of how much sugar she took in a day, she needed to make an overall change to her diet, and this solution was provided by the Sirtfood diet that People reported she followed to achieve her results.

The diet puts more emphasis into eating real, well-cooked, home-made meals that are jam-packed with nutrients. The ingredients list called “wonder foods” consists of stuff like coffee, strawberries, kale, cauliflower, olives, and cocoa, and their aim is to activate “sirtuin proteins” that are supposed to provide a range of benefits, such as higher metabolism, anti-inflammatory properties and more…

A small problem

While these are all good things to put in your body, the Sirtfood diet has received its fair share of criticism for the way it handles these ingredients. It is notoriously restrictive, and the first phase of the process is extremely hard on your body. According to the website dedicated to the meal plan, sirtfooddiet.com, this is what you must do:

“During the first three days, you should have three sirtfood green juices and one full meal rich in sirtfoods – a total of 1,000 calories. On days four to seven, you should increase your calorie intake to 1,500 by having two green juices and two meals daily.”

For the average person, going down to 1,000 calories a day, after probably being used to way-higher quantities, could be disastrous and even dangerous, so it’s not for everyone. To follow this diet plan for weight loss, you need to be ready to suffer a bit in the first week of the program.

Although it promises that you can lose weight fast, you should really consider your options before you choose to go through with this diet. Some have even shared their concerns that there are healthier ways to go about it- healthier ways that are going to be more realistically achievable and consistent over a long period of time. Nobody would like to lose weight, and then revert back to previous weight because they didn’t manage to keep up with their demanding diet.
